Post 9: Changes to my Study Programme

My career is Film Studies. I think iI have good and bad things to say about it. First of all I think the whole career is badly raised for being in communication faculty instead of arts faculty. I strongly believe that arts do not necessarily have to communicate something. So, starting over there, our curriculum has a lot of subjects in common with journalism. Some of them have been very interesting, I really appreciate the fact of being forced to read. But nevertheless, I think two theoretical subjects about communication PER SEMESTER is too much for us. Considering that our profession is very practical and we spent A LOT of time making our films in the workshop subject. We have also theoretical subjects about cinema, which are very great, but the workload is really hard. Besides, the length of the career is very long, five years and you get your certification just the sixth year since you started all of this. I believe all of this issues could be resolved if we had a lot less journalism subjects. We have facilities because University lends us electronic equipment to film and edit, even though they could be much better and more, because most of them are really old, some of them obsolete, and at the end of every semester everybody is borrowing them, so it’s kind of messy. Teaching methods depends very much on the teacher. There are teachers really passionate with their jobs and there’s others who are great filmmakers, but they’re teaching just for the money or they don’t have many pedagogical tools. However, the generation after mine has a new curriculum, I hope it’s so much better.
