Post 7: Current Issues

A few days ago, a new album was released on the internet. It is called “Núcleo Distante” and it’s a collaborative work made by 22 musicians from 10 different countries of Latin America. The particularity of this  album is that all of the 22 published songs were recorded with the cellphones of the musicians and sent to a WhatsApp group. I have chosen this issue because I am really into music and composition, and I’m always in the search of new referents and new methodologies for making music, of course considering the infinity of alternatives that technology gives us nowadays. That’s why I think this is very important, arts are always moving on, arts are about innovation and making sense of all the facts and stuff that is around us. This is very inspiring to me because I feel this is like a resistance issue, against commercial music and all of that people who profits with this, people who has forgotten (or never thought) that music is not a business. And also to the sound standards which has nothing to do with the real substance of music, and the horrible competition between artists, that is something I can’t get to understand. Between this 22 musicians, there are three chilean participants: Vicente Cifuentes, Andrés Landón and Paz Court. The last one is really my idol, she is a very integral musician, she is a composer, an incredible singer, and she is arranger too, she has built an orquesta who plays her songs and she is the director. It is called “La Orquesta Florida”. Besides, there’s a peruvian participant called Lalá whose I am a big fan too, she is a very cute and delicate composer of lyrics and a very good singer. Also the cover was drawn by a very good argentine illustrator called Liniers. I hope you all can listen to this album and enjoy, you can find it on Youtube and Spotify.
